1st Degree Murder Charge For Killer Of Pennsylvania Teen Featured In Documentary

Chay'nce Quadier King-Henderson's suspected killer has been apprehended and charged with first degree murder, according to Harrisburg police.

Kaewon Kashif Layton, 15, of Harrisburg was arrested on Thursday for his involvement in the shooting death of the 16-year-old.

King-Henderson was shot dead in the 2200 block of Berryhill Street on Thursday, April 1, around 1 a.m., as Daily Voice reported at the time.

Chay'nce was a 10th grade student at SciTech, who worked at Hershey Park and attended Faith Deliverance Church, according to his obituary.

He aspired to be a rapper and had already been in a studio to record with Bottom Line Entertainment, according to his Instagram.

He was originally from Atlanta, Georgia according to his Facebook.

He is survived by his parents Mahamadou and Yvonkia Illiassou; his biological parents, Charlotte King, Darnell Henderson Jr.; 4 siblings and a large extended family, according to his obituary.

He was buried at the William Howard Day Cemetery on April 15.

King-Henderson's story was recently shared by his Grandmother Saundra Jackson in the documentary Our Boys.

The documentary highlights the effects of gun violence by sharing the stories of nine young men gunned down in Harrisburg, as stated on the film's creator's website.

The film's release date  has been moved from August and has been scheduled for Oct. 15.

Layton has been charged with the following:

  • Murder Of The First Degree
  • F1 Murder Of The Third Degree
  • M1 Possession Of Firearm Prohibited
  • Firearms Not To Be Carried Without A License
  • M1 Possession Of Firearm By Minor

He is being held in the Dauphin County prison in lieu which has been denied as he "poses a threat to the community" and per state law on murder charges, according to court documents.

He is being charged as an adult.

His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 26 at 9 a.m.
